Every Sunday, hundreds of men and women clad in white robes gather at the baptism pool, located on the edge of Wallacia, to immerse themselves in the fresh flowing water as part of their ritualistic practices.

The importance of water in Mandaean faith cannot be overstated. These full immersion baptisms cleanse followers of their sins, and they don white ceremonial robes – or rasta – which symbolize purity.
