The Working Class Conundrum: When Membership Means Little The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has been making headlines with its victories in Democratic primary elections, but a growing chorus of critics is questioning whether the group's self proclaimed commitment to representing the working class aligns with its actual membership demographics.
With 80% of DSA members over 25 holding college degrees and nearly a third earning more than $100,000 per year, it's increasingly difficult to sustain the notion that this is an organization fundamentally of, by, and for the working class.
